AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation Specialty
This is a great class to learn more about the world’s coral reefs and the dangers they face from pollution, divers and other hazards. The course will also teach you responsible behaviors for both snorkeling and scuba diving.
What you will learn:
- An introduction to Project AWARE.
- The importance of coral reefs to marine ecosystems and coastal areas.
- Coral reef and reef inhabitant biology, association and competition.
- The status of the world's coral reefs and detrimental land-based and ocean-based activities that put reefs in peril.
- Suggestions and information about actions that may help to protect reefs, including responsible diving and snorkeling practices.
Prerequisites:
- There is no certification prerequisite for this course
- There is no minimum age for this course
Required Materials:
- No required Materials, You will receive handouts in class
Course Fee: $50.00
Number of dives: There are no dives required for this certification. It is recommended that it be combined with other programs like Peak Performance Buoyancy, AWARE - Fish Identification, Underwater Naturalist, etc.
You can receive either a certification card (for certified Divers) or a Certificate of Participation (for non certified or students under the age of 10).
