Open Water Diver

If you’ve always wondered what lies beneath the surface, now’s the time to find out. Start the journey of a lifetime with the PADI Open Water Diver course.

Getting Started

There are two parts to becoming a certified scuba diver:

  1. Classroom and Pool training
  2. Openwater certification dives

To get started, all you need to do is find the class that best fits your schedule

Part 1: Class and Pool Training

All class and pool training is conducted on-site at The Underwater Connection. To ensure your comfort in the pool, the temperature is kept at a toasty 82˚F, and wetsuits are provided. Our classes are conducted in a fun, relaxed, and safe atmosphere. You will receive the level of attention you need to be fully trained as a safe diver so you can enjoy yourself in the water, knowing that you can perform every skill effectively.

  • Option 1: 2-Week Course - Class meets 2 nights a week for two weeks from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Option 2: Weekend Course - Class meets on two consecutive Saturdays from 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Option 3: 2-Day Course - Class meets on Saturday and Sunday in one weekend from 8:00am to 6:00pm
  • Option 4: Private Course - Tell us your schedule and we will customize a course for you

Part 2: Open Water Certification Dives

This is where you get to show what you learned in the pool, and earn your certification. You will do four dives over two days in an open water training site of your choice. Once you are certified, you can do another dive to see what it is like to dive on your own. You can also add on advanced training and save some money for your next dive vacation.

Option 1: Blue Hole, Santa Rosa, NM

The best choice if you want an inexpensive way to finish your certification, as well as experience great visibility in a spot that is recognized as one of the top 10 inland diving locations in the country. The combination of clear water and a constant year 'round temperature of 63˚, as well as the excellent diving platforms and easy entry contribute to making this a great site to get certified.
